Our pens use metal parts for stability of the barrels, your ease of use, and overall pen attractiveness.
The plating over the metal gives color and wearability, making your pens not only beautiful but long lasting. All pens keep their brand new look longer when we are kind to them by keeping them away from our keys.
Our platings are rated by stars. * one star is the lowest durability and ***** five stars is the highest durability. A + sign equals one half a star.
24k Gold *+ An epoxy coating protects the pure gold plating. Pat's Pens and Treasures does not use 24K Gold.
Copper ** An epoxy coating helps protect the soft metal. When the epoxy is worn through, remove the verdigris with a soft cloth. Pat's Pens and Treasures does not use Copper plating.
Soft Black/Tactile ** This is a 'fuzzy' soft black coating. There is no epoxy. It will flatten and shine where fingers touch. This makes a very personalized pen. Pat's Pens and Treasures does not use Soft Black/Tactile coating.
Black Chrome ** A dramatic chrome or enamel coating that makes our simple pens exciting. This plating can use protection-- although Pat's personal Slimline with Black Chrome has been in her purse and on her desk since 2006 and looks nice.
Satin/Brushed platings **+ We use the Pearl Satin plating on Slimlines. This plating gives a gentle color accent on some woods.
10k Gold *** This plating is the workhorse of the quality Artisan Penmaking industry. This plating will develop personal character with heavy use. I do not recommend this gold for doctors, lawyers, or those who have much to write about. For most of us, this is a lovely plating.
Chrome **** A wonderful silvery color plating, rather like the chromed metal of collectible car engines.
The following are the mainstay platings of Pat's Pens and Treasures. This platings are extremely durable and made of premier metal.
Titanium--Gold ***** The gold of the plating and the color of the under-metal are exactly the same.
Titanium--Black ***** The Titanium Black is a dark gunmetal color, very understated and giving a sense of hidden strength.
Rhodium/Platinum ***** The silvery glow of Rhodium/Platinum can never be matched. (This is Pat's personal favorite.)
Whichever plating you choose for your pens, may the pens speak to your heart and provide you with years of pleasure.
Love and Light,
Pat
